OpenCape is hiring an Enterprise Salesperson

OpenCape Corporation is a strategic and innovative 501 (c)(3) nonprofit technology company headquartered in Barnstable Village. OpenCape owns, operates, and maintains a state-of-the-art fiber optic network designed to provide fast, reliable, and affordable internet to businesses, municipalities, and residents. We leverage our state-of-the-art, 100% fiber network, driving strategic partnerships to grow our reach, offer better choices, and help bridge the digital divide across a region extending from Providence, RI, through Southeastern MA, Cape Cod & the Islands, up to Boston.

We are currently seeking an Enterprise Sales Executive to join our growing team. This hybrid role is a critical part of OpenCape’s continued success, with a primary focus on sourcing new business within an assigned territory. The Enterprise Sales Executive will play a critical role in expanding our client base while delivering outstanding service to both new and existing customers.

Job Functions & Responsibilities 

  • Proactively identify, prospect, and cultivate new client relationships throughout Southeastern MA and into Providence, RI, with a focus on key areas such as Fall River, New Bedford, Brockton, and Providence, excluding Plymouth and Wareham.

  • Drive sales revenue by promoting and selling fiber optic products and services to both new and existing customers, including corporate clients, municipalities, federal agencies, educational institutions, and small businesses.

  • Analyze customers’ strategic needs to identify how OpenCape’s fiber solutions and services can effectively address their challenges, support their goals, and enhance overall business or organizational performance.

  • Collaborate with the Network and Executive teams to develop and refine quote details.

  • Leverage social media platforms and the company website daily to engage with and reach current and potential customers.

  • Create and execute a strategic sales plan for assigned accounts, including proactive follow-up to accelerate contract signings, ensure customer satisfaction, identify opportunities for add-on services, and manage contract renewals.

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on sales activities and performance using Salesforce

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of sales presentations for events and community organizations.

  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape to strategically position the company in the market.

  • Represent the company at community meetings and events, providing support and presentations as needed.

  • Navigate and manage long sales cycles involving multiple touchpoints, technical coordination, and organizational approvals, including engineering and infrastructure build-outs.

 

Education / Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Preferred: 5+ years of sales experience in telecommunications or a closely related industry.

  • Demonstrate a strong, intuitive grasp of fiber optic broadband network services and related technical terminology, or a willingness to learn.

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.

  • Skilled in delivering presentations to groups.

 

Skills / Knowledge 

  • Strong and persuasive negotiation skills.

  • In-depth knowledge of account management and strategic selling processes.

  • Proactive problem-solving abilities, leadership qualities, and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, and various technology tools.

  • Preferred: Solid understanding of value propositions and products/services including Ethernet, IP transport, Dark Fiber, and DWDM.

  • Residency in Southeastern MA is preferred. Must be available to travel to Barnstable for in-person meetings on Tuesdays.

  • Comfortable with initiating contact and building relationships with new clients.

 

Compensation ranges from $65,000 to $100,000 + commissions. First-year guaranteed terms are negotiable based on qualifications and experience.

Business Development/Sales Executive

OpenCape Corporation is a 501c3 nonprofit technology company headquartered in Barnstable Village at the Barnstable County Complex. OpenCape owns and operates a state-of-the-art 100% fiber-optic network built to serve local governments, businesses, and residents of Southeastern Massachusetts, the Cape & Islands and Rhode Island. OpenCape is seeking a Business Development/Sales Executive to be the newest member of our growing team.

Job Summary:

As a Telecommunications Sales Executive, you will be responsible for driving sales and revenue growth for our telecommunications products and services in Southeastern, MA and Rhode Island. You will engage with new and existing clients, identify their telecommunications needs, and provide tailored solutions. Your goal is to meet and exceed sales targets, build long-term relationships, and contribute to the overall success of the sales team.

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Sales and Business Development:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and lead generation.

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve or exceed monthly and annual sales targets.

  • Conduct sales presentations and product demonstrations to potential clients.

  • Negotiate and close sales contracts, ensuring favorable terms for both the company and the client.

 

2. Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, issues, and service requests.

  • Provide ongoing support and account management to ensure client needs are met and exceeded.

 

3. Market Analysis and Reporting:

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats.

  • Prepare and present sales reports, forecasts, and analyses to management.

  • Utilize CRM software to track sales activities, manage client information, and generate reports.4. Product Knowledge and Expertise:

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the company’s telecommunications products, services, and technologies.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and technological advancements to effectively position the company’s offerings.

5. Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Collaborate with network team, marketing, product development, and customer service teams to ensure alignment and support for sales initiatives. This position reports directly to the CEO.

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of sales strategies and tactics.

Qualifications:

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Telecommunications, or a related field (preferred).

Experience:

Proven experience in telecommunications sales or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of sales experience, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.

Skills:

  • Strong sales and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to understand and convey complex technical information.

  • Proficiency in Salesforce software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • Flexibility to travel as needed for client meetings and industry events.

  • Resident and knowledge of Southeastern MA & Rhode Island and surrounding communities is required.
