Chief Financial Officer ( Part or Full Time) Flexible

OpenCape Corporation is a 501c3 nonprofit technology company headquartered in Barnstable Village at the Barnstable County Complex. OpenCape owns and operates the state-of-the-art 100% Fiber Optic Network built to serve local governments, businesses, and residents of Southeastern MA, Cape Cod, and the Islands. Our 100% Fiber Optic Network is on par with the most sophisticated and technically proficient fiber networks in the world.

As a rapidly growing fiber-optic internet provider, OpenCape is experiencing new and exciting challenges and opportunities related to growth, scalability, competition, and strategic planning and is seeking a part-time Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with a possibility of full-time employment.

At a time when organizations face unprecedented uncertainty, OpenCape requires a CFO who can balance the need for forward-looking vision, while working closely with our CEO and Board of Directors to deliver short-term financial results and sustain long-term growth all while meeting our strategic mission goals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work on-site as needed to develop an understanding of our business and relationship with key staff and Board members (100% remote candidates, candidates who require sponsorship for VISA’s or candidates who are unable to work onsite as needed will not be considered)
  • Work in close cooperation with internal and external Accounting, Audit, and Finance staff to continue OpenCape’s high standards with regard to financial accountability and transparency.
  • Assist in further developing and refining the financial well-being of the organization by providing financial projections and accounting services, and preparing growth plans.
  • Develops finance organizational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction and establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
  • Establishes finance operational strategies by evaluating trends; establishing critical measurements; and designing systems.
  • Develops organization prospects by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities; projecting acquisition and expansion prospects; analyzing organization operations; identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement; and accumulating capital to fund expansion.
  • Develops financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; identifying monetary resources; and developing action plans.
  • Reports financial status by developing forecasts, reporting results, analyzing variances, and developing improvements.
  • The CFO will be expected to work near the Chief Executive Officer and Board to advise and make recommendations based on current or future projections.
Qualifications:
    • MBA or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or equivalent experience. Master’s degree preferred.
    • Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills. Certified Public Accountant certification is a plus.
    • Minimum 10 years experience in accounting and financial management practices.
    • Experience in a senior management position as a CFO required
    • Familiarity with the telecommunications industry is a significant benefit.
    • Proficiency with Quick Books accounting software, Microsoft Office applications including Excel.
    • Position applicants must demonstrate their proven skills in senior management with written, verbal, and interpersonal communications.

Working Conditions:
This position works in a normal office setting with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions the majority of the time. Could be required to travel to local project sites with potential exposure to heavy equipment and environmental conditions. This position may require on-call rotation involvement.

Marketing and Communications Intern

Summer 2022 - (Part-Time - flexible)

Seeking college-age to student work closely with senior management to expand our marketing/communications team. Duties include social media, and/or, communications planning and strategy.
