Lowell Park and Cotuit Kettleers Connect to OpenCape's 100% Fiber Optic Network

OPENCAPE CORPORATION CONNECTS LOWELL PARK/COTUIT KETTLEERS

Cotuit Kettleers kick off 75th anniversary season with a newly built fiber internet connection from Barnstable-based nonprofit ISP OpenCape

BARNSTABLE, MASS, June 9, 2022 – OpenCape Corporation, the nonprofit organization that owns and operates the 100% fiber optic network on the Cape, the Islands, and Southeastern Massachusetts, is pleased to announce they have built out a new fiber internet connection to Lowell Park in Cotuit, just in time for the Cotuit Kettleers Opening Day on Tuesday June 14.

The Kettleers play all of their home games at Lowell Park, a dedicated and pristine facility maintained by The Cotuit Athletic Association. The idyllic location already boasts award-winning concessions and a state-of-the-art Press Box Building, and it now has a 100% fiber underground high-speed internet connection to add to its long list of amenities.

Fran Maycock, Treasurer of the Cotuit Athletic Association’s Board of Directors, says, “The new fiber internet connection is incredible, there’s no comparison to last year. The Kettleers have been playing at Lowell Field for 75 years and the new connection to the OpenCape network allows us to broadcast games to people who, for whatever reason, can’t make it to the park. We will also add a TV monitor in the kitchen so fans won’t miss any of the action while they are in line for concessions!”

Maycock explained how the Cape Cod Baseball League draws players from across the country, so being able to stream games is a huge benefit. “Cotuit Kettleers fans and families from Maine to Florida and West to California can now stream games in real time, and the quality is unmatched. Just go to www.kettleers.org and click on the “Audio and Video Streaming” link on the home page. Click on “YouTube” and you will be live streaming Kettleers’ games.”

“We could not be more excited to welcome Lowell Park and the Cotuit Kettleers into the rapidly growing OpenCape family as they launch their 75th anniversary season”, said OpenCape Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Steve Johnston. “As a Cape resident and a diehard baseball fan, connecting the Cape Cod Baseball League has been a goal of mine since I started at OpenCape in 2016. This new high-speed fiber internet connection will allow the Kettleers to better serve their existing fan base as well as expand and attract new audiences, and we are thrilled to have been a part of that!”
