OpenCape Welcomes Two New Staff Members to Team

OpenCape, the Cape’s only 100% fiber optic network is growing and as a response has hired two new employees, AJ DeMita and Haley Woods, to join their team. Jenn Brann, Director of Business Operations says these two new positions help address OpenCape’s continued growth and success and is excited to see them grow and advance within the organization. “AJ and Haley are eager to expand their positions within our mission-based company to provide this valuable utility to businesses and residents in our region,” said Jenn. “We are proud to be able to create career pathways to good paying jobs,” she continued.

AJ DeMita, Sales & Marketing Coordinator – A resident of Pembroke, AJ recently moved back to Massachusetts after spending the last 5 years in North Carolina. There, he attended the University of North Carolina at Greensborough where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in media studies with a communications minor.

At OpenCape, AJ is working on special projects and conducting research for the sales team. He’s also looking forward to starting a podcast series to help OpenCape educate its audience about who they are, what they do, and what makes them different from the competition. AJ is excited about his new position at OpenCape and the ability to expand the position and grow with the company according to his interests. “I love that it’s so busy and that I get to do and learn different things each day,” he said.

When AJ has time off, he travels to concerts and music shows and festivals. He is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hiking and camping.

Haley Woods, Bookkeeper, A native Cape Codder, Haley Woods has been living in Yarmouth her entire life. She earned two Associates Degrees from Cape Cod Community College, the first in liberal arts and the second in business management with a concentration in accounting.

Prior to joining OpenCape, Haley worked as an office administrator for Cape Save where her responsibilities included scheduling, bookkeeping and administrative tasks. She’s enjoying her new position at OpenCape and says, “It’s exciting to learn new things and I look forward to growing with the company.”

When Haley is not working, she enjoys spending time with her young son and “super-mutt” rescue pup, as well as doing all things creative. From gardening and drawing to baking and crocheting, Haley is an enthusiastic go-getter!

OpenCape owns, operates and maintains a state-of-the-art 100% fiber optic network that provides reliable and affordable broadband internet access for businesses, healthcare providers, educational institutions and municipalities across Cape Cod, the Islands, Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

The Barnstable-based non-profit has launched several residential and Main Street business Fiber internet pilots, including Woods Hole, Falmouth and Hyannis on Cape Cod. Their goal is to foster and support community-led initiatives to drive growth and economic development, as well as meet unserved and underserved communities to help bridge the digital divide.
